Hosting a retreat has been a dream of mine for a very long time. In my mind, I’ve imagined a day spent with other health-minded women—sharing, growing, exercising, eating together, breaking down walls and old habits while we learn how to form new ones….free of distractions…..able to just “be.” I’ve dreamt of creating a space for women to be fed instead of doing the feeding; to be coached instead of having to be the referee; to be served instead of being the server; to be challenged, supported, encouraged, and inspired for 6 hours on a countryside hilltop in Franklin, Tennessee.
We deserve the opportunity to become specialists of our own health and wellness. Like with any virtuoso, dedication to the practice that one is seeking to master requires time, effort, and intention. Why do we give such little thought or concern to our well being? We latch onto something that promises to be quick and offers fast results….but there is no quick “fix” to our wellness. It’s a lifelong pursuit.
Here’s what I know: We function well when our foundational health is strong. We simply cannot frame a beautiful house without first laying a solid foundation, and doing so takes learning, understanding, and practice. Life by Lori is about becoming a virtuoso of your own well being.
